I cannot think of my ever having had need to stop, unless L1 has
actually come to a stop. Where that has happened - I just match speeds
with the tail of the vehicle ahead in L1 from a good distance from the
end of the slip and the driver along side/slightly behind always lets
me in. When its congested, I never go tearing along the slip, trying to
get ahead - I can do that by moving over to the faster moving lanes
once on the motorway.

Lotus Cortinas, Austin 1100's, original Mini's, Ventura's, A40's,
E-types and etc.. Some of those seemed to be scarily powerful in their
day.

A bad junction is where the M3 joins the Eastbound M27 near
Southampton. There is a sign on the M27 which motorways merge in a
mile! Maybe drivers have forgotten about the junction by the time they
get there.

My first car was made in 1969, weighed 1000kg and had a 1500 engine with
95bhp. Things haven't moved on very much (apart from fuel consumption).

There's not many 95bhp cars as light as 1000kg these days.
