From: Speeders & Drunk Drivers are MURDERERS on

Good idea but he's too wimpy. Just say cell phone drivers are
dangerous psychopaths with no concern for the lives of others. As bad
as DUIs. Call them highway terrorists.

Richardson calls for No Phone ZoneNew Mexico Business Weekly

Gov. Bill Richardson is challenging New Mexicans to put down their
phones while driving – for at least one day.

Richardson proclaimed April 30 a “No Phone Zone day” across the state,
taking a page from Oprah Winfrey, who initiated a national No Phone
Zone day as part of her campaign against distracted driving.

Winfrey’s efforts were endorsed by the U.S. Department of
Transportation, the National Highway Safety Administration and the
Governors Highway Safety Act. More than 188,000 people have signed her
No Phone Zone pledge online.

Richardson said drivers distracted by phone calls and texting are
making New Mexico roads more dangerous.

In 2008, there were 284 cell phone-related crashes in the state.
Nationally, about 6,000 people died in 2008 in crashes involving a
distracted driver, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety
Association.
