Pretty much.

Same problem on the front of the Territorys, but there was no way they
couldn't do something about that unless a major class action was what they
were looking for. Still, it took them a *long* time to get off their arses
about it.

I have heard people say that but I've not seen a lot of rusty XD-XF's.
Maybe the problem isn't as bad in Melb but they don't like the
conditions in Qld?

The XD van I owned had rust in the drivers door caused by blocked drain
holes, I cleaned it out treated the rust and it didn't get any worse.

Mine had some surface rust in that area but no leaks, like the door
problem I treated it as soon as I noticed it and it didn't get any worse.

When I worked for Ford I visited the Griffith dealer and he was anal
about rust proofing, he claimed that a lot of dust was allowed to get
into the doors and other places and when it got wet it would turn to mud
and retain the moisture for a long time causing rust so he dismantled a
lot of a new car and sealed it to stop dust and water getting in.
Seems it worked.
