It was always a "do not" - completely impractical to define, or to police as an offence. I hadn't noticed the rule disappearing.
From: Harry Bloomfield on 24 Jan 2010 17:12 Mortimer submitted this idea : > I've reported it on FixMyStreet because the advance signage (the arrows on > the road) is in direct contradiction to the lane markings. So far I've only > had an acknowledgement but not other reaction like "oh God, you're right, > we'll fix that immediately". Recently a local roundabout on a DC was refurbished. It had always been the standard - both lanes for straight ahead (where most of the traffic was going), left lane for left, right lane for right and marked as such. At the completion of the refurb, the right lane had been signed and the road marked for right turn only. It caused chaos at peak times, with vehicles queuing all the way back to and across a second roundabout. It was fixed within two days. I don't if it was a result of my report on FixMyStreet, but a local road I reported six months ago was patched within the month and completely (and it seems properly) resurfaced last month - It survived the recent frost. -- Regards, Harry (M1BYT) (L) http://www.ukradioamateur.co.uk

About time you got a newer HC? -- MrBitsy

It it were (it isn't), no roundabout would have - or need - more than a one lane wide carriageway. |
