Hi,

First time writing on but here goes, I dont know about anyone else but
potholes really get on my nerves and usually go unfixed for a while, but
anyway was looking through the Number 10 Petitions website and thought
this was was worth signing:

http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/MotoristCharter/

The brief from it is:
"Put in place a national website for the reporting of pot holes, and
establish and enforce local and county councils to effect temporary
and/or permanent repairs within strict time limits. A temporary repair
should be compulsory within 24 hours of the problem being reported.

Funding should come from existing revenue from road users: road tax,
council tax, fuel duty, road / bridge / tunnel tolls, speeding fines,
parking fines, VAT on fuel, VAT on cars, congestion charges, vehicle
first registration fees and benefit-in-kind taxes for company cars."

Currently there is 583 signatures, I was just wondering if we could get
some support behind this.

Thanks for reading

If you get another 1,999,417 signatures, you might at least get a bit of
media coverage of the fobbing-off you'll undoubtedly get.

It happens that DB formulated :
> "Put in place a national website for the reporting of pot holes,

That has already been done and it works. Check out 'Fix My Street'.

Fortunately the 'Fill that Hole' site already provides a service for
reporting potholes , raised manhole covers etc.

Problems can be reported here.

And local highways authorities also have reporting mechanisms for pot
holes.
