I thought it was pretty neat.

Me too. If I had the money I would do that in hearbeat (perhaps this
is why I don't have the money?).

Great stuff!! It's better than the Mercedes AMG division builds.

Ditto here... but for $5800 extra I would want to build TWO engines...
one for the Vette... and one (long block) to take home and put it in
something else.

I mean... what does it cost GM for all the parts in the motor... 700 bucks
for parts and then maybe 150 bucks for assembly labour? The assembly
person must be putting the motor together in less than 2 hours. All the
parts and power tools are at hand. It takes longer to place the head bolts
in the holes than it does to power drive them home all at once!

I would wear a Giorgio Armani suit, and bring a photographer with me, if I
was being coached through the assembly by the assembly person. When nobody
was looking... I would drop a Canadian dollar coin into the oil pan... just
for good luck!

I saw a poster at a garage once. It went like this:

Labor rate: $50/hr.
If you watch: $75/hr.
If you help: $100/hr.

Extrapolate from there.
