If it's an injection model, remove the rubber hose that runs from the flame tramp on the top front of the drivers side rocker cover to the plenum, one end at a time, and try blowing through it with your mouth. If you can't easily in both directions investigate why. Others have mentioned a worn cam - and that's very common at high mileage or where oil changes have been neglected.
