My '84, petrol Rangie has started to lose a lot of motor oil underneath,
whilst also losing power, to the extent she'll only reach 65, even with foot
to floor. Feels 'rough' too. All serviceable parts are up to scratch;
filters/oil /plugs etc. Any ideas much appreciated.

It would be nice if you told us where the oil was leaking from.

Assuming you've not owned it from new, my first bet is the camshaft is
worn to buggery as oil changes tended to get ignored. You'd need to pop
off the intake manifold and the oil shield below it and then you should
be able to see the camshaft if I remember it right as I served part of
my apprenticeship at a Land/Range Rover dealership but that's many moons
ago. Also do the compulsory compression test. Oil, assuming its not
engine is likely the crankshaft oil seals if its a high miler.

FWIW, when we did PDI inspections, on the road test a Vogue EFi was
expected to get 24MPG.

Conor I'm not prejudiced. I hate everyone equally.

Did both faults happen at exactly the same time?

No, the engine oil leak/s started some weeks ago. The 'rough' feel & power
loss, just yesterday or so.
