An industrial safety shop should have offcuts of tape like that which you could buy really cheap. e.g. there is a place here in Perth that sells its offcuts, 50c gets you a roll 50mm x 2m or so. No doubt a signmaker in Sydney can do the same.

Go to your local $2 shop ands get a couple of packets of reflectors you can either stick them with double sided tape, or some of them are designed for nailing onto wooden posts.
