From: Lobster on 15 Jun 2007 14:08 The key transponder plip thingy has suddenly stopped working - doesn't action the central locking/alarm any more, and the little red LED on the key no longer flashes. Replaced the battery to no avail (although the sudden failure mode would suggest to me that the battery wasn't the problem?). So looks like a new key would be in order... I gather these are an arm and a leg from Vauxhall, right? So I've been looking at ebay. There are plenty of suitable keys/transponders on offer, eg item 140128276890 (I just need the electronic bit as the key blade is OK) but obviously would need to be programmed to match my vehicle. Is that something I can get done reasonably readily (again, presumably my local Vauxhall dealership is going to be the most expensive solution?!) Then there are sellers (like item 280125315861) who are peddling info on how to reset your existing key for a couple of quid... is this worth buying or is it going to be a con?! Thanks for any advice David

Just to answer my own query as it looks like nobody else is going to... I went for the above 'trick' purchased on ebay and it actually worked like a charm so I'm one happy bunny! I won't report details here out of deference to the seller - since he's probably saved me a pile of dosh - other than to concede that I really ought to have been able to work out the solution for myself!
