We used to have two decent Safeway stores in this area and another not far
from where I work on a regular basis. All of the Safeways had a good choice
of food and wine and a staggeringly good range of "real" beer.

After the dust had settled on the Morrison's takeover we visited the local
one and as my wife said "we won't be coming here again". I agree with
SteveH all they sell is lard, pies and tripe although on the alcoholic
beverage side they are also strong on alcopops and "White Lightning" style
high alcohol/low cost synthetic drinks for people seeking oblivion in a
hurry.

ITYF that was probably more to do with the Office of Fair Trading than the
success or otherwise of that particular store as a Morrison.
