Next: Give him a medal
From: Peter on 20 Jul 2006 05:30 I've been reading information on several Web sites from someone who claims to eliminate speeding tickets. One such site is beatspeedingticket.co.uk, although the same individual has other sites, showing the name Dan Strauss. Does anyone here have experience of the process mentioned, which he claims is based on template letters? Is it a con? I'm trying to decide what to do at the moment because I was recently sent a notice of intended prosecution for an offence which I know I didn't commit but which I know isn't worth the expense of legal representation, given that accepting the offence will cost only 60. I have a clean driving record and always stick to the speed limit. I have requested photographic evidence and they've sent me one picture, showing my vehicle with a recorded speed of 39mph. I don't have enough experience to interpret the picture, but I know there is an error somewhere. I've heard that Magistrates tend to side with the police and I wouldn't know how best to argue my case in court. Thanks

Does the picture CLEARLY show the driver? If the picture is from the rear or the picture is not clear who the driver is, write backing saying you are not sure who was driving your car that day. You and your wife/friend made several trips around that time, with each of you driving. If they cannot 100% identify the driver, they cannot assign points to that individual. You will still have to pay the 60 but will you will not get the points.

Unlike you though, I'm pretty sure I *was* speeding at the time. Saying that, I'm going to have a read on www.pepipoo.com to see what I can do. I suggest you do the same. -- Talent hits a target no one else can hit. Genius hits a target no one else can see.

The picture's from the front at a very long distance and you can't see who's driving, because the sun is reflecting off the windscreen. My wife doesn't drive, so I don't think it would be wise for me to say that it was her driving :-) What actually happened was that because I had just moved house, the correspondence went to my old address and was forwarded to me. I then filled in the correct address and sent it back to them as indicated. However, they've interpreted this as an admission that I was driving, even though I didn't tick the relevant box. Simply returning the form with my new address has signalled my admission. I don't know if this affects the outcome, but I didn't tick the box.

I don't know if the idea they suggest is defunct now, as I couldn't find any recent postings on the forum. Perhaps I wasn't looking hard enough. |
