Denso list Ingram as their WA agents. Ashdown Ingram are part of Repco, they now call themselves OEX. They probably won't deal direct unless you've got an account, in which case you'll be stuck with Repco. Their a/c catalogue, which lists some rebuilt compressors, isn't yet available online AFAIK (you could try google) but any Repco branch should have hard copy. Get the model details off the plate on your compressor to be safe. There are also a number of others who rebuild compressors but I don't specifically know of any in WA. Sounds like it's been driven to destruction, in which case there'll be metal filings spread throughout the system... meaning it'll need to be flushed and the expansion valve replaced. Receiver drier will require replacement as a matter of course -- IIRC some Subarus use a desicant cartridge (see the OEX catalogue). After that it's a simple matter of evacuating and leak testing the system and recharging it. I'd use Hychill HR12 in preference to Dupont R134A, but if your mate happens to be a VASA member (apologists for Dupont) he'll probably go ape at the mere mention. :) -- John H

Hopefully it didn't pump little bits of compressor throughout the system (well, some of it anyway). > I've got a mate who can evac the system for me so after that do I pull it > off and replace it or have it rebuilt? I'm not sure anyone rebuilds them these days, not cost effective. Even if someone could rebuild it a 2nd hand item or brand new would probably be more reliable (you know it works). > Anyone know of anyone in Perth that will do me an exchange unit. I'd be surprised if they take exchanges, unless they want the clutch unit and/or some other fittings. > I've never done much with aircon before so enquiring minds want to know. > I figure this is going to be wallet hurting. 2nd hand compressor from the wrecker and hope you mate is as good as he's implying is the cheapest option. Next more expensive is a second hand unit and a professional regas (expect to be hit for a new drier as well). Final step is a new compressor and regas. First thing to do is get that old compressor off and figure out how much it chewed up and spat into the rest of the plumbing.
