Over the years as I was always buying old cars,..many of the inline cars had
tailshaft vibration. The immediate response is to say "the unis are
shot",..but no,..not in about 1/2 the cases. The next step was to try and
check for 'run-out'. This proved a little difficult as the gearbox propellor
housing was flexing in its mount, up and down. So one would check closer to
the diff onlt to see significant runout. On closer inspection, the tailshaft
could be moved up and down about 1/16". The only conclusion was that the
t/shaft ears were spread apart from the hammering when fitting previous new
unis

Is this a common thing? Just wondering:-)
