Toyota just lost a sale
After the news came out about the unintended acceleration problem that killed the cop and his family one of the ladies in my office said she was ruling out buying a Highlander as a result. She wants to get a bigger car for her family and was looking at Highlanders but not anymore. Frankly I was amazed that someth... 3 Dec 2009 00:33
Ford's "Easy Fuel" capless fuel filler?
I just learned that the 2010 (and perhaps earlier) Ford Explorers, and other Ford models, have what Ford calls "Easy Fuel" capless fuel fillers. As near as I can tell, instead of unscrewing a cap, one inserts the gas pump nozzle into an opening which automatically moves aside for fueling, and immediately c... 23 Nov 2009 10:47

(splatting this across multiple groups in hopes of finding someone who knows) The Problem: I want to set up a small paint booth for painting model airplanes. I'm cheap, so I want to start collecting equipment for it bit by bit as it comes up for sale on Craigslist &c. This will be for model airplanes, s... 20 Nov 2009 12:23

I would have thought given Toyota's increase in sales over the last twenty years they would have had more like 90% of th... 1 Nov 2009 11:08

Brakes unable to stop runaway Lexus in California?
So slamming on the brakes enough to cause tires to catch fire still can't stop the car? That's scary! "In a 911 call, one of the passengers said the Lexus was speeding at 120 m.p.h., and witnesses said the car’s tires were on fire when it crashed – possibly from the driver slamming on the brakes." http://www.f... 4 Oct 2009 17:47
911 Tape: Runaway Lexus Driver Reported No Brakes
Toyota issued a second recall related to floor mats. The first one (Sep 2007) sure didn't help Lastrella's family of 4, who reported, according to 911 tape, that the car had no brakes!! "Chris Lastrella, were killed after reporting to a 911 operator that they could not stop their Lexus ES 350, as it careened down... 16 Oct 2009 22:56
Air compressor.
This morning, I removed the two plastic case halves of my light weight SpeedAire air compressor, Model 5F239-7 1 3/4 horsepower, 125 psi. It is a single piston air compressor.I discovered why it doesn't pump air.The air outlet port looks like a little arched doorway, 5/16'' wide by 7/16'' it is flat on the bott... 28 Sep 2009 12:35
