Not only did I pay more in Asda, I also couldn't get the products I
wanted most of the time - Asda used to run out of eggs every other week.

I go to Tesco to get things cheaper than Waitrose, I haven't tried the
other places mentioned here.

I go to Waitrose largely to avoid the kind of people who shop in our
local Tesco. Since a big Waitrose opened locally, the demographic of the
Tesco has plummeted, and the range they stock has changed to fit. Sorry,
but I don't eat frozen chip-topped-curries. I prefer food.

Comparing like-for-like, and quality-for-quality, Waitrose is not vastly
different on price to Tesco. The nearest there is to a problem comes in
the fact that your trolley mysteriously fills with lots of scrummy stuff
you really don't need, but just can't help yourself buying.

Yes, I noticed they do curry pies too. Our Tesco doesn't seem to bad,
customer or staff wise. Its nowhere near as pleasant as a shop though.

Its sometimes hard to know for sure on quality, but quite a few things
are cheaper in Tesco by as much as 1/3, although Waitrose has had to
compete more in the recession. Fizzy bottled water and some other
things where quality isnt much of an issue, are a lot cheaper. The
Tesco Finest range is often hard to tell apart from Waitrose.

This is true, its even worst if you go to John Lewis food hall or
Selfridges.

But you're not buying the same products.

I could drop my broadband bill to 6 a month from the 20 it is now but
I wouldn't get the same usage.

Conor I'm not prejudiced. I hate everyone equally.
