You ride an E-bike powered by fossil fuel extracted energy. Until you
stop doing this, you still don't hold the moral high ground in any
argument regarding pollution from carbon neutral sources as your
energy is generated from a source which is not sustainable.

The argument for or against the cost implications of using crop oil as
biofuels as opposed to using them to feed the starving millions is a
completely different one.
If you think that the locals in these countries are paying 80p per
litre for cooking oil as we do in the UK, you are very mistaken. The
same cooking oil in the states is sold for about 30p a litre, and its
cost is directly linked to the pump cost of fossil fuel oil in that
country as the link between the two has been established in the public
eye for fueling motor vehicles.

Where to begin? In the first instalment of the radio programme it
highlighted poor local people being thrown off their land so that vast
monocultures of soya for biofuel could be grown and then they are made
to suffer further by poisoning from pesticide spraying and in their
drinking water.

The point you are deliberately missing is that human food is wasted on
making biofuels for cars, while eating is necessary to sustain life
and well-being. Food itself is not classed as a biofuel.

It is when it is converted into cycling miles!

Does anyone know how much land is required to fuel a (say) ten mile bicycle
trip?
