Agreed.
Kids are never told, "Sorry, that's not good enough"
it's always "Good effort" despite the fact that 't's very obvious that
absolutely no effort was used.

THEN
They get into the workforce and wonder why everyone wants to put them
on trial and they get sacked after 3 days....or they go to TAFE,
arrive late every day, don't do required work...and wonder why they
failed.

Simple solution is contact details up to date and called if no child
in class with in 30 minutes with regular monitoring
failure to address mean expulsion automatically after 3 fails in a term
which under the current rules here in Qld , tafe or the parents have
the potential for massive fines and the child being placed in remedial care
Not perfect but it does work (kid across the road attends now)

I like to think I'm a revisionist in some areas,..but today's schools have
gone past the rediculous to a form of extreme passivism or even extreme
pacifism. We dont need a Hitler to correct things,..but a compact with the
educational authorities, that repeated bad behaviour will bring consequences
not excluding a physical tune-up of the corporal variety. No hope I
know,..but it did keep a lot of louts in order, in our day.

They can be failed and then fall off the edge
seems a little training like some home military work just be in order
