Heh, not just a curriculum follower but a real teacher that knows stuff then
presumably ;-)

Spoke to a cop mate yesterday. Although he couldn't answer *which*
time reference they use, they do (in WA) apparently have a 3 minute
tolerance at each end of the SZ window.

It's on-topic but I think you missed the point.

Clearly you see the point and benefits of teaching your kids - don't you
wish all parents did the same? You can see what benefits teaching respect
and a sense of responsibility from an early age brings to society as a
whole, right?

Not in primary ed in WA. That's where the damage (after 1) is
entrenched.

Then get to the point that I'm apparently missing.

There's 2 subjects being discussed here and I was only commenting on the
accident prevention one as I had no problem with the other about
responsibilities. I object to the blanket answer that parents teaching their
kids fixes the problem. Even if all parents taught their kids you would
still have accidents. They learn from so many different sources, especially
from bad sources, that parents have little control over. It's a bit like
some safety signs that we used to have in the workplace dunnies stuck to
mirrors. They stated that "You are looking at the person responsible for
your own safety". I wanted them removed because they are complete bullshit.
You can be as safe as you like but there's always someone who can cause you
to have an accident.
