Dunno about CA, but there's plenty of both here in Georgia - sometimes right next door to each other. -- necromancer - ECHM

Thinking of the south, years ago, Arco used to have a refinery here in Brunswick located just west of what is now US341. After the land changed hands several times, the area is now a superfund site and has been since the early '90's. Just south of the site was a neighborhood named Arco after the refinery (now a staging area for cargo containers) and there are still a few businesses with the word, "Arco," in their names - bur alas, no Arco gas stations. -- necromancer - ECHM

The Atlantic Richfield station in South Euclid, near where I grew up, became a Sunoco and I don't know if it's even still open. Jim's Mobil in Cleveland Heights has been a Marathon station for years, but a sign on the side of the store still says "Parking for Jim's Mobil only." > Did the chain withdraw area-wide, like Jack in the Box, or just from > the south? Chicago has tons of BP stations that used to be Amoco stations. At one point, BP bought Amoco and moved their US headquarters from Cleveland to Chicago. -- Steve Sobol, Victorville, California, USA sjsobol(a)JustThe.net |
