I don't think Leno does any of his own writing.

Hear him talk off-the-cuff, and there's little of the humor that's in his
show.

Jay Leno has some joke writers who come up with the jokes.When he isn't
doing his tv show and he is at his place where he keeps his cars, get
him talking about his cars and he will prop one of his feet against
something, then shift and prop the other foot against something.He is OK
as far as his cars are concerned.
