My engine is 1.6 litre.

Looking at that the problem will still be that airflow through one
barrel will pull on one of the rings, but will suck air back in from the
other ring _unless_ both barrels open at the same time/rate as each
other.

As athol said, you'd need something to prevent that happening. That's
actually not an extremely big problem. It could be as simple as a one
way check valve. If the spring used in it is _VERY_ soft it'd work well
enough, but you'd have to design it so that it was big enough to flow
enough around the check valve to support the required flow, but at the
same time be small enough to not dampen the signal strength. I can do a
diagram of what would be needed if it's any help.

Of the top of my head, I'm not sure what's available to suit it - but I
wouldn't be surprised if something could be made very cheaply to suit
it.

Certainly.

The reason I mentioned this issue is that if you do a google search you
might (I don't know for sure) get a few links which say that the adm
weber and lpg is a bad idea or something like that. If there are links
that say that, then it's important to know that the real problem is with
the size of that carb/lpg combo for such a large engine. On a smaller
engine like yours (in fact for anything under about 3 litres) it's a
different story, and can flow enough for a good result.

All of us reading this thread understand 100% how frustrating it must be
for anyone to have an lpg setup that seems to never be able to be
properly fixed to run well. What you do is of course your personal
choice, but it's definitely possible to get you a good working solution
without having to go to injection. Injection is good - absolutely - buy
you'll be able to get the job done without much more expense and
frustration.

Ok the 'theory' on this is that you are supposed to set the idle a/f
mixture when the motor is cold for best cold idle smoothness. What is
supposed to happen is that as the car heats up, the higher coolant
temperature flowing through the convetor will automatically lean the
mixture out a little bit to suit.

That's basically where I'd be looking to fix it - by starting it, and
adjusting the idle a/f till it will run when completely cold. It might
need another person there to help start and help keep it running whilst
you adjust the mixture.

Based on everything so far - it's the twin spud setup not being
compatible with a two barrel that has different primary and secondary
opening rates. I definitely think the amos ring/ carb hat device is the
best option - it will not be bothered at all by the secondary opening
rate - since it sits above the top of the carb. It's also 100%
compatible with the current convertor - so there'd be little work to do
to actually fit it.

If the one Noddy has doesn't fit based on your post with the
measurement/spacing of the bolts on top - I'll find one that does - it's
not a big deal - there's absolutely tons of lpg stuff down here - it's
been popular since around the late 1970s

here is the area that can be connected to the air filter case.
