slow speed spare tyre
I have a 2 year old Fiesta. Handbook mentions that some cars have a skinny spare tyre with max speed 50MPH. My spare seems to be same size as all the others (195/50 R15) and it's a ContiEcoContactEP which seems to be rated for 118MPH, on a steel wheel (although the others are all PremiumContact and directional o... 24 Jun 2010 06:23

Ex caravanner!
Well, that's it. After 12 years of touring we sold the caravan today. Bought it for 8600 in 1998 and sold it for 3200, so it's depreciated 5400 in 12 years. Wish cars held their value so well. The buyer is off to get a tow-bar fitted and then it's bye-bye to the 'van. It will be sad to see it go - we've had... 2 Jul 2010 19:06
Exchanging details after a road traffic accident
When involved in a collision, you are obliged to exchange your address and insurance details with the other driver. If the other party is an on-duty police officer are they still required to do so? Consider this scenario. You are being signalled to pull over for an offense such as speeding or tailgating. You p... 23 Jun 2010 10:40

I went for a cycle ride on Friday afternoon.
Big mistake! Not to be recommended. It just didn't occur to me when I set off and never ever to be repeated. Three examples of motoring madness combined to provide a hostile and highly dangerous environment. They are... a) The school run b) An early rush-hour home. c) The weekend getaway. Bend severity
In advance of a steep hill, signs advertising its gradient are often present. This lets drivers know exactly what to expect. For bends, there is just a bend sign - it's the same for a hairpin or for a slight inflection in the road. There obviously must be a sensible numerical measure of how sharp a bend is ... 20 Jun 2010 17:53

Dipping oil on MOT test?
My car went in for it's six year MOT today (it passed!). When I returned to collect it, they were still running the test. I noted that at one stage the tester removed the dip-stick and inserted a probe down the dip-stick tube. Any idea what that was for? -- Kev ... 18 Jun 2010 13:35
Still getting the good old Labour nanny state reports comingin...........
"Brimstone" <brimstone(a)hotmail.com> gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying: (of Philip Hammond) Having met him, I've got quite a lot of respect for him. If he isn't a genuinely nice bloke, then he's a bloody good actor. Did you meet him before or after he became a politician? Last No... 17 Jun 2010 05:44
