I visited a bloke in the bush who has restored a Stutz, but I don't think it
was a Bearcat
It was a two seater tourer and I can't recall seeing any bodywork around it,
apart from the guards and bonnet

IMO a good thing about cars from the past is that there was so much
variety in the styling unlike now where every car looks too similar.

The connection is Virgil Exner, who designed the Champion when he
worked for Studebaker. He was also responsible for the "revival car"
concept on which the modern Stutz Bearcat was based. They were worse
than awful, but the epitome of American bad taste would have to be the
Zimmer....

OTOH the original Stutz Bearcat (circa 1916) was one of the best
looking, and most desirable, cars of the pre 1920 era....

I agree the original Bearcat was nice.
Kind of makes the later travesty worse really, doesn't it?

As far as the Zimmer goes, my first image was more like:
"When you arrive in a Zimmer, they'll think you've escaped from Aged Care."

I wouldn't call any stude ugly, just different. Of course, as per OP eye
of beholder etc.
