this has been coming for about two years when the QLD Gov't introduced
the bill to phase out normal ULP to be replaced with E10

OilCos have been gearing up for it for Months, converting servos to E10
only sites, Shell has 10 in Brisbane alone

It's not new news at all. it was a stunt to prop up the Sugar and grain
industry

Oh and to make the Govt look green

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the
impression that the QLD regulation didn't specify ULP to be
phased out, but just specified a minimum percentage of fuel
to be sold as E10.
I can live with the 2nd, but if ULP is taken off the market
completely I will be majorly pissed off, as I have a
motorbike and a lawnmower that cannot use E10 (I've already
had to pay for repair of damage caused by E10), and they do
not run well on PULP.

And that just means that the $5 a month you spend on fuel for the mower will now be $5.50 on
Ultimate, Vortex or Shell Racing fuel.

I thought that was a Howard Government initiative, which may or not
have been duplicated by state GovCo's wanting to look equally green.

But, think about it!

The federal ethanol subsidy ends in June 2011, which will effectively
increase the price of the ethanol component by at least 42cpl (current
subsidy plus GST).

How would they be about to achieve the minimum ethanol requirement if
91 ULP is sold alongside it at a lower price, or 95 PULP for a similar
price?

It's pretty obvious in the places I go that the phasing out of both is
well advanced and will no doubt be complete well before July 2011.

I've used PULP in an old outboard without problems, I've also used it in
lawnmowers, chainsaws and leaf blowers without a problem so to me it
seems odd that it cause something to not run well.
