Story is the battery was flat before the demo and when they jumped it it friend the safety computer.

Remembering that the majority of crashes in and around the suburban areas, occur when the cars are going at around 15 - 20 kph at impact. what good is a product which doesn't deploy at those speeds?

A sudden stop at 15-20km/h isn't going to be 1. deadly and 2. The airbag isn't going to be effective. They are calibrated to go off around 40km/h+ generally where chances of serious injury is likely, and the the decelleration speed and impact angle are generally taken into account also. (depends on the system and age of it)
