From: XR8 Sprintless on 3 Jun 2010 02:20 Got the wagon back at lunchtime. Seems to be all fixed. Total cost not known yet but not costing me a thing. replaced Front crankshaft seal Rear gearbox seal and shaft bush O ring at timing chain adjustment point Battery terminals Spark plug leads. (Installed new coil pack which I had already purchased.) Diff breather pipe New steering rack. No more oil leaks... I gave it a good run and not a sign of a leak. Gave the 380 back and mentioned that it hunted the gears a lot. The Manager agreed....

As the manager stated it was a series of relatively small issues that combined to make it a pain in the rear. They are taking on the guy who did the roadworthy for the costs as it was obvious the car was not in roadworthy condition. They sublet the mechanical and roadworthy work from the used car yard to another company. Overall it was basically off the road from 18/5 to today. He appreciated that I didn't go off my brain at them but tried to work it out. Once he got involved it was taken to a different repairer and I went in and he showed me what was going on. Car actually drives beautifully and is quite comfortable. Suspension has been upgraded at some stage and it has Michelin boots all round which are fine. |
