My mum's seen a car she likes up North. She failed to look at the
badge, and asked me the other day what it might be.

It's "modern". Small, "round", reminds her of an A40 and has a "proper
defined boot".

Any clue? I've looked through What Car online and can't seem to find
what the hell she is talking about.

It's not a Fiat 500, an Alfa Mito, or a Nissan Figaro..

Any chance it wasn't on UK plates? There's a fair few booted versions
that we don't get over here.

How likely is it that she's _really_ thinking A40? Jelly-mould Somerset/
Devon or Farina?

There are no really small saloons on sale in the UK at the moment, AFAIK.

By "modern" did she mean "looks modern" or "on a recent plate". The
only small round saloon that I can think of in recent-ish times is the
Mazda 121 - but that's from the early 1990s.

or perhaps a saloon Polo:

It could also perhaps be a Fiat Siena or Albea - a fair few of these
seem to have found their way across from Eastern Europe:

With the missing point, surely, being that not even Mike P's mother could
actually like it...?
