I don't know about your part of the world but I've never heard of a roads authority doing random "rechecks". We have random inspections here, which take the form of coppers doing "quick lookovers" while they've got you pulled over for something else, or Vicroads conducting genuine "random checks" where cars are pulled in to the side of the road much like a breath test. In either case cars that fail are issued with a defect notice, and it makes no difference to either one if the car was recently issued with a rwc by a licensed tester. -- Regards, Noddy.

I knew that it had tyres slightly wider than they should, slight crack in the windscreen and a windscreen blower that only worked on 2 and 4. (I'd say that shouldve been okay) but for the $90 I had in my pocket he didnt even look at it, he asked me for the mileage and did the whole roadworthy from his chair!! The rest was checked okay by an ex mechanic mate so the safety issues were okay.

It used to cost a spot down here for an "over the phone" rwc when a legitimate one was 50 bucks, but most legitimate ones are around a hundred bucks these days and it's been some time since I bothered with a bodgey one.
