Second test at age 18 at Puckapunyal VIC - 6 x 6 WW2 Studebaker (same look as the JIMMY's often seen in WW2 movies) Third test at Moorebank NSW at age 19 - 6 x 6 Diamond T WW2 heavy recovery vehicle (twin 10 ton articulated booms). They rolled a 4 ton Inter over a cliff into the northern side of the upper Woranora River on the Heathcote Road. I had to recover it and tow it back to the "for auction" line at Moorebank. Another licence - without a test for motor-cycle. I was the section leader for the assembly of the last WLA Harley's still in their original packing cases and water-proof-grease-paper. Loved the suicide clutch and the hand gear-shift. Then swapped without test for a civilian licence for NSW "E"???, anyhow what whatever today is an "HC" in QLD. But never a lesson!

The difference is that older people learnt to drive when there was a lot less traffic and many more than now didn't survive long enough to gain the experience many older drivers now have. My guess is Veritas is old enough to be my father and I'll be 58 in about 7 weeks:-) Daryl |
