Not just quite - 12 months later I'd been able to do the job properly :)

I think it may have been a combination of four things:

A lot of careful observation over many (young) years as a passenger -
especially since they were just about almost all crash-boxes and and the
like).

A good understanding of the mechanics of vehicle operation and
pre-licence-age experience behind the wheel (workshop manoeuvring etc)
and road testing as an apprentice.

Scrub-bashing and pushing past the vehicle's limitations in "safe areas)
to experience what actually happens as well as having well above average
eye/hand coordination/spatial-orientations skills. Good anticipation too.

Lots of good luck - but that is largely associated to (3) above isn't
it? :)

I agree that generally people with a bit of mechanical aptitude make
better drivers.

The EJ Premier, for its day, was a pretty jazzed-up piece of kit. They had
metallic gold as one of its paints. The red motor should have been
introduced at the same time.

Good for her ! :-) Most ladies would simply go auto,..like 99 outa 100!
