You could do things like that then, without paying any "Athols" heaps. :-P Took a few shims to get the camber right. :-) -- Take Care. ~~ Feral Al ( @..@) (\- :-P -/) ((.>__oo__<.)) ^^^ % ^^^

I don't think they were ever optional on the commercials. Actually I don't think they were even optional on the sedans. They might have been, but the salesman would rather talk you into buying a Premier than selling you 27 bucks worth of optional disc brakes for your Special. -- Regards, Noddy.

Disc's were a factory option as early as HD but unfortunately very few bothered to order them. Daryl

Some fare significantly better than others I would think. I'd expect an an old Jag or Benz would give a reasonable account of itself if you were lucky enough to find one still running that hasn't been consumed with rust like a Disprin in a glass of water. The argument's been raised a number of times where people have been critical of early Holdens, Falcons and Valiants saying that there were *much* better cars around in those days such as those made by Jaguar and Mercedes Benz, and they're quite right. There *were* better cars in those days (well, the Benz was anyway :), but then you got what you paid for. Just like today you can have a Benz that most people would probably think is a significantly better car than a Falcadore, but then with the base models being roughly three times the money of a Falcadore they'd *want* to be. On that front at least, nothing much has changed. > I have very fond memories of my GT Cortina but I bet if I drove it today > the memory would be spoiled. Most likely. I've been toying with the idea of buying a classic car, and something I enjoyed from my youth. A GT Falcon, an XU1 Torana or possibly even a Cooper S which I have a real leaning toward at the moment. I haven't really got any further than having a casual look, even though I know where there are a couple of decent genuine cars for sale owned by people who would be willing to dance if you waved cash under their noses because I know that the moment I sit my bum in any of them and take a spin the magic just won't be there like it used to be. -- Regards, Noddy.
