Actually Danny, there were a few Mini engines that dry sumped the whole engine including the gearbox. They found that by just installing oil feeds to critical areas that the gearbox was just as reliable as when operating in a sump full of oil. Mine was had a fabricated sump with a number of scavenge points, the gearbox was oil filled still. In hindsight, the aforementioned is a better system. Ahhh Nod...cars that go around corners tend to hold oil in the top of the engine...It's the reason dry sump systems scavenge from the top as well.... Cars that go around a *lot* of corners, as in continuously. You'd be staggered at how quickly gravity takes control once the G's move to the rear. > It's the reason dry sump systems scavenge from the top as > well.... *Some* systems scavenge from the top. A lot don't. Those people who aren't loading the top of the engine with shitloads of oil have no need. -- Regards, Noddy.
