Had a Triumph Stag for a short period of time (ex finances') her old mad
restored it and gave it to us for a present a tree didn't like it and
decided to fall on it...

Oh well sometimes you can give back gifts you don't want. ;-)

If you think they were nippy the LJ XU1 GTR was quiet a rocket. :-)

And the drivers of purple ones thought they were even faster, until you
changed from 3rd to 4th alongside them when they were already flat out. Was
more impressed with a V6 Capri on the same night across the Hay plains in
one October. Then there were the SLR5000's with a tank so small that they
needed to stop at every service station when pushed.

Absolutely. The first XU-1 had a crumby g/box. I think it was made in the
Philipines for GMH. They had addressed the prob with the LJ. It also ran the
202. Was the 202 a better engine than the 186? Some say no.

On the very early models, and the cabling ran under the floor.

It was neither.

The exhaust ran down the centre of the car as they didn't have a
transmission tunnel. Rather, they had a small "exhaust tunnel" that
accommodated the pipe, and the end of the tailpipe turned to the right just
under the rear bumper to make it appear to come from one side.
