Not really, OP mentions only London black cab drivers. Though he could be
referring to black cabs, or ethnic taxi drivers.

Either way, usually people don't *want* to be a taxi driver, it's not
exactly a profession, but to go as far to say 'they're retarded' is a bit
cheeky.

Think you mean indicator. Trafficators are the flap up arms found up until
about the mid '50s before flashers became the norm. FX4s came well after
this time.

Yes, you are right.

The FX3 (the previous Austin cab, famous for its
lack of a nearside frontdoor) had trafficators. So
did one of my old A35s.

I thought one of the changes that made an A35 easy to spot over an A30 was
the flashing indicators?
