I didnt know i had one either!. i thought it was just a cut off
solenoid but the bottom section unscrews and there is a filter inside.

There a was a ball of iron filings the size of a marble in there - and
thats after only 6000 miles!

Hmm, how big was yon filter bottom section - the cutoff solenoid on mine
is only about 1.5" across.

the solenoid bit i have is one of these:

The filter was small and is housed in the bottom section
