Even 40 years ago, pigs used to nail people for 'having a weapon suspected
of being used in a burglary.
In point of fact it was the manufacturer supplied brake adjuster/hubcap
remover standard in most every car.
And it was, again, in point of fact, a Jemmy:-)

I had the distinction of watching him be the first to destroy a new Charger
hwy patrol car many years ago, friend and I were mucking around on his place
just out of town when we heard and then saw this blur on the road just as it
entered a cutting, the only thing to exit was a lot of noise, dust and
debris. we just about killed ourselves running across the paddocks and
railway line to get there to find a police charger stuffed into the inside
bank of the corner and the driver (our friendly CUNTstable) unconscious in
the drivers seat. obviously someone else saw this and had called emergency
services, there was an ambulance there pretty quickly soon followed by the
fire truck with cutting gear to get him out plus several police cars( I
would say just about every police car in the district) and a tow truck. as
soon as he was free from the car and taken to hospital (he wasn't badly hurt
apparently) the plods cleaned the scene thoroughly, put the car on a trailer
under a tarp and nothing was ever mentioned about it in the local or
national press.
when they finished you would never have known there had been an accident
there.

I'm with you Daryl. And they wonder why we plebs get pissed off with them.
Huge difference between sleeping pissed in a car and driving pissed said
car.

Nothing like looking after their own. Even if he happens to be an arsehole.
