i'd say he helps fuel it rather than encourage; he's a vital part in
the international shipping chain ( as he's one of the consumerists who
fuels it)

new phones, food shipped around the world, multiple computers and
probably fancy bits for his bike ( given how snobbish he's been about
that in the past i'd not be amazed if thats the case but its just a
though with no factual basis as yet)
