I decided to go for a recreational drive last weekend.

I've put some photos up if you'd like a look.

I live in the midlands and drove to Lesmahagow truck stop (10-15 mile south
of Glasgow) on Friday afternoon/evening where I had a few hours kip.

I left there at silly o'clock and went up the motorway and A9 to the
outskirts of Perth where I used some B roads to join the A93.

The A93 takes you through Blairgowrie and Glenshee to Braemar. At Balmoral
there's a single track B road that takes you across towards the A9 and
Inverness.

At Inverness breakfast seemed like a good idea and a friendly traffic warden
pointed me at a decent cafe (where the waitress was a gorgeous little
blond).

Then it was back on the A9 through Wick to John o'Groats where I stopped and
sent some postcards.

The rest of the journey took me along the north coast and round to Ullapool
and back to Inverness.

I stopped at Tebay services for a kip and arrived home at about 8 on Sunday
morning.

Now I have a problem, I like going places on day trips. How do I beat John
o'Groats? :D :D

LOL! Good trip.

It wasn't until I got a caravan that I began to realise just how small is
this island we all live on. If you draw a 50 mile radius circle around all
the caravan sites we have stayed on in the last 12 years, they all
intersect. Our problem these days is to decide where to go with the caravan
because we've been everywhere.

*Anything* beats John O'Groats. It's a dump.

Can you do Land's End in the same timescale?

There's certainly not a lot there to hold the visitor's attention.

> Can you do Land's End in the same timescale?

A lot less, it's only about 6 hours using "A" roads and not motorways. By
motorway, less than five. That's according to Autoroute and not allowing for
traffic holdups

I didn't think that anyone in Britain earned enough to do some
recreational driving now given the incredible cost of motoring.
