That's a flare fitting and the flare nut just needs tightening.

Is the other side a banjo fitting and requires 2 copper washers either side.

Thanks to all. Its now done and dusted.

The only hitch was all that petrol dropped on to the floor has dissolved
some of the rubber sole on my sandals.
