From: john hamilton on 25 May 2010 06:57 Replacing a petrol fuel filter on a 94 Corolla. The replacement filter came with three new copper washers two for the top and one smaller size which is presumably for the bottom connection, (since there was not one in there, when we took the original filter off ?). When its all reassembled, it leaks from the bottom connection. Is this because there should not be a washer in there ? or that there should be a washer and we need to buy some kind of sealant to put in on the threads ? Thanks for advice.

Thanks for advice. you don't need sealant on petrol connections, it would be washed away in any case. any chance of putting up a picture so that it is easier to understand?

The black ring in the middle inside is not flat, but a bit conical. (ie higher nearer the hole lower nearer the threads on the outside).
