My ownership experiences suggest otherwise.

Mind you, I don't use the dealers, which probably helps ;-)

There's a reason for that - lags like a Saab 99 Turbo and has a ride
that rivals Audis for harshness.

Anyway, no-one pays list for a car, do they?

Wow , conclusions based on a sample of 1

Yup , plenty of people do just that , or they get a few hundred quid off as
a token gesture , along with some mats and half a tank of petrol.

Hell , people still believe that garages give a genuine ?1000 minimum part
exchange without loading at least a grand on the price of all their stock

Mmmm.

My 155's biggest failing was that it was far too bloody hard.
The 156 I test drove was - if anything - worse.

I don't remember the suspension being bad on the 156 I drove.

Perhaps I was distracted by the decomposing interior , appaling
semi-automatic gearbox that refused to do reverse 50% of the time and the
selection of odd noises that I had to guess if they were serious or
harmless.

That said , this particular 156 had done 90k miles and probably hadn't been
well looked after , but it was a total shed.

The 'Sillyspeed' box wouldn't have helped and they do benefit from new
suspension bushes from time to time.

What spec. was it?

We have a base / Lusso (depends on model year and who you talk to.....)
spec. which is fine - compliant ride, without losing the handling the
156 is famous for.
