From: Austin Shackles on 3 May 2006 08:16 On or around 2 May 2006 15:25:40 -0700, kotecha.ravi(a)googlemail.com enlightened us thusly: >Yes there was a special joint, but it didn't break off.... does this >mean that they are liable? not likely as Stewart says. However, if there'd been a major gas leak as a result of a safety device on the line (the self-sealing breakable joint thing) not functioning, then you might not be liable for that - I suspect they're required to be installed and that making it so that it doesn't break when it should is naughty. -- Austin Shackles. www.ddol-las.net my opinions are just that "You praise the firm restraint with which they write -_ I'm with you there, of course: They use the snaffle and the bit alright, but where's the bloody horse? - Roy Campbell (1902-1957)
From: david.cawkwell on 5 May 2006 08:14 You broke it therefore your fault and they will claim off your insurance company. Perhaps you might have a case in the cashier allowed you to pay for the goods without the hose been disconnected. I know petrol pumps won't allow the payment until the nosel has been replaced and therefore the pump cuts off.
