SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco police are looking for a man who was
allegedly caught on tape molesting a young relative in a school stairwell.

Police say 68-year-old Pedro Hernandez was seen on a Sanchez Elementary
School surveillance tape and by a teacher's aide as he sexually
assaulted his step-granddaughter on Thursday.

Hernandez had told officials at the school in the city's Castro district
that he had come to bring the girl her lunch.

Hernandez ran from the school, as the teacher's aide called police. The
girl, whose age was not disclosed, was taken by a counselor to San
Francisco General Hospital.

Gentle Blythe, a school district spokeswoman, says a letter about the
incident would be sent to all school parents.
