So many of the bloody things to choose from.

I'd prefer to buy a 1 or 1.5 year old car so Tiguan is topping the list.
If new I'd think about a Hyundai IX-35 or even the Santa Fe. I'd go the new
diesel Forester but it's manual only at this stage.

Any others I should chuck into the mix?

Tiguan is nice. Santa Fe isn't really an 'even'; it's a good vehicle in
most respects. Maybe check out the Kia Sorento as well? Why not a 1-2 yo
whatever and save a shedload!

Tiguan and the new Santa Fe might be still a bit new to be able to find
any cheap.
Both are very nice and are competitors on price.
Kelpie didn't say what his intended purpose is but unless he is doing
lots of klms or intending to keep it for a very long time I'd probably
look at a petrol Forester, ours isn't all that economical but its
cheaper to buy than the Tiguan or the Santa Fe.

I imagine that Kelpie is looking to get out of his Corolla and into
something a bit more family friendly now that his little one is getting
older, and something a bit beach suburb friendly would be in order :-)
Tiguan is a nice car, so is the Santa Fe, I don't see you going wrong with
either to be honest.

hehe exactly. Looks like I could be doing high KMs and will have a business
I can put 100% of the car through.
Oh and another reason I want SUV is my knees are really giving me hell when
I squeeze into the 'rolla.

The Santa Fe looks great, only neg seems to be Hyundai re-sale values.
