Who makes the silicone ones? Trico's website certainly infers that they don't (or at least that they're inferior) while others have suggested they do. FWIW I've mainly bought Trico trade refill packs in the past (conventional rubber) so I'm also curious as to how the specialty types perform (which presumably cost more than rubber). Trico do list teflon... could they be confused with silicone? -- John H

I still run an account with Burson's, and every time I ring up asking for "Silicon wiper inserts" I get sent Trico ones which work well although I've never actually read the blarb on the packet to see what they actually were. When you take them out of the packet they look and feel like they've been dunked in a barrel of graphite powder. -- Regards, Noddy.

It also comes in 8mm (or maybe it's 7.5) which is TTR710-10. I got that much from the Trico listing for my Subie, it uses one of each. MY-09 is different again. Trico list it as a Premium Metal Refill. No other info to be found on their site. My Mazda ute uses the 6mm version, driver and passenger side, but Trico don't list the vehicle. The originals come in the correct length and the locking "clip" is moulded in (Subie is the same). I suspect the Trico refills would come with metal locking clips and have to be cut to length... is that correct? Local Repco no longer stock Trico and don't seem to have an equivalent. The ones they supplied don't have the metal rails. They fit after a fashion, work OK at the moment but I doubt if they will for long. -- John H

The metal strips have segmented "snap sections" machined into them every inch or so once the blade gets past a certain length, but they don't snap very cleanly. If you try to do it by hand all you manage to do is bend the strip near the desired break point which just causes the blade to curve away from the glass.
