From: Traci Steele on 1 Jun 2010 11:48 http://www.pioneerlocal.com/maywood/news/2340524,maywood-molest-052710-s1.article The Cook County Sheriff is reaching out to Melrose Park residents and parents in Proviso Township regarding the recent arrest of an alleged child molester. Martin Weis, 45, was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. He allegedly molested the child of a family he was staying with in unincorporated Melrose Park. Since his arrest he has been held on $100,000 bond. But the alleged incident was not the only one. In 1988 Weis was convicted of criminal sexual abuse, according to sheriff's office. Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart is asking anyone who might have had regular contact with Weis to talk to their children about any interaction they may have had with him. Weis worked for Crystal Lake-based Skinner's Amusements and by virtue of that seasonal carnival job he moved across the country. When he was home he primarily stayed in Melrose Park area but was a transient, staying with friends and associates for as long as they'd allow. In early April sheriff's investigators were called to a home in unincorporated Melrose Park where a family had allowed him to stay for the previous three months. A child in the family found pictures of suspected child pornography near his belongings and alerted adults, who kicked him out. A follow-up investigation by sheriff's police determined Weis had been molesting a child in the house where he had been invited to stay. Anyone with any information regarding Weis is being asked to contact Cook County Sheriff's Office at (708) 865-4875.
