Actually, many cell phones do not know your speed or location. AGPS
units may offload the computation of location to the network, and then
only when requested. Location of TDoA units is always calculated by
the network.

I know this is a losing battle, but that's NOT how a Garmin nav system
calculates speed. It calculates speed directly based on the doppler
shifts of the satellite signals it receives.
