continued: first shop said it could be cruise control down shift or needed a trans rebuild $1800. second shop (private transmission shop) found that it was the torque converter. $1300. noisy power steering = pump bad?
My old Buick V6 motor was worn out. I found one with low miles at a breaker's yard, and he swapped it. All is fine, except when I start from cold, the steering makes a rasping sound. why do people change their pinion angles when they upgrade their axles? for universal joints to do their job, output angle has to be the same as input angle otherwise you get angular velocity fluctuations in the drive train, and subsequently high failure rates. yet i don't think i've ever seen an upgraded of... 13 Aug 2010 16:54
