What is it about SUV drivers that makes them think they don't need to
look into their mirrors before opening their doors?

I swear it's only a matter of time before one of them loses a door when
I'm too close to brake, and oncoming traffic prevents me from steering
away from them.

So you know there's a hazard. You must drive at a safe speed to be able
to avoid the hazards.

I don't consider the risk of ripping the door off an SUV to be a
sufficient hazard to justify slowing down or swerving every time I pass
an one.

The timing is such that it's only the door that's likely to be hit, not
the occupant of the SUV.

So if it happens, it happens. The SUV will be off the road for a while,
which has to be a good thing.

LOL. I couldn't agree more.

Although I can't stand you using _that_ term.
